Creamy lattes and sweet mochas warm the hearts of many who gather at the Timberline Cafe each week. Located inside the church walls, this cafe is the perfect location for meetings, Bible studies or a peaceful place for college students to study. Although an ideal coffee shop, it serves more than just a place to grab a cup of coffee.
In 2011, the Timberline Cafe made the decision to change the world. They became completely missions driven with all profits and tips going directly to missions across the globe. Tips go to a variety of missions with one charity in particular called Living Water. This charity provides clean water to those in need and teaches God’s love through His living water.
The baristas who brew and blend the delicious coffee beverages are all volunteers. The little coffee shop is always searching for new faces to help, with only a great attitude and the willingness to serve required. Most of these hardworking volunteers have never had coffee shop experience before. Whether new volunteers want to learn to make espresso drinks, or stock and brew coffee, training is very minimal. “There is something for everyone and it’s a fun place to hang out, if you ask me,” says Timberline Cafe manager, Liz Reiber.
Reiber recently stepped into the role of Cafe Manager in January, 2013. She finds her job rewarding as she learns more about the higher calling of the cafe. “Knowing I get to work locally and make a global impact is truly humbling and exciting,” she says.
Every cup of coffee purchased at the Timberline Cafe serves a higher purpose than filling the need for caffeine. It helps to fill the needs of many people around the world. If you would like to volunteer, contact Liz at firstname.lastname@example.org.
