Timber-Piggery Fun to Help Cherish Uganda

During the month of October, Timberkids hopes to raise $3500 to purchase pigs (Timberpigs) for Cherish Uganda. Each child who attends Timberkids has received a cup like the one in the picture. (Think of this like a “piggy bank.”) The kids were asked to fill their cup with change during the month of October and then to bring their cups back to church on the upcoming Orphan Care Weekend (Nov. 5/6).

That weekend the kids will pour the money from their cups into pig troughs that will be placed in the Children’s Ministry area. There will also be live pigs on site that weekend.

This money will be used to greatly expand the current piggery at Cherish and will allow them to sell the pigs on the open market as a way of producing income. This is yet another step forward in helping Cherish to become sustainable while also creating awareness of who Cherish is and why they exist.
